THE FUTURE OF MANUFACTURING

Hybrid Manufacturing

ADDere reduces multi-variant part production costs

The ADDere additive metal process lends itself well to take up the lower volume, thus more expensive versions of part production runs. By being able to deposit material on components built with other methods such as forging, casting or production machining, ADDere can more cost-effectively provide lower quantity versions by adding features that would previously have required their own molds, dies or fixturing.

A perfect example would be a part series that has a few variations designed off of a common base configuration. While the bulk of the production may be one version at a significant quantity, the part series may have a few highly desired versions that, while derived from the same base shape, requires features that would require either its own tooling or a more expensive modular mold to achieve. With current production methods, these extra features would precipitate the version’s own casting run.

Instead, ADDere could use the high-production version of the part and 3D print metal material to create the extra features. This process would reduce the need for a specialized casting run and/or specialized modular mold or tooling to create the extra versions. These abilities can lead to large cost savings as well as the potential for vastly reducing production time.
